How to Record from Tape to Computer
![]() |
If you don't want to spend much money, all you really need to make a decent connection is a standard "Y-adapter" cable like the one pictured above. These simple cables can be purchased for about $10 from your local consumer electronics store, like Radio Shack. |
STEP 1 - Plug the stereo 1/8" mini-jack end of your Y-adapter into the “LINE IN” of the sound card of your computer. |
STEP 2 - Locate the LINE OUT jack on the back of your tape player and plug in the other end of your Y-adapter. STEP 3 - On your computer, select “LINE IN” as the source for recording. To do this, select Start / Control Panel / Sound and Audio Devices / select the Audio tab. Under “Sound Recording” push "Volume." Under “Line In” check “Select”. Adjust the recording volume as needed. |
STEP 4 - You are now ready to start recording. Start the program you will use to record, play your tape, and record in your computer program such as GoldWave. Questions? Contact webmaster@baptistinfo.com |
