Part 6 - THE FALL OF MAN

I. INTRO

1. We believe that man was created in a perfect state of innocence, under the law of His maker (Gen 1:27) (Ecc 7:29)

2. but by voluntary and willful disobedience and transgression fell from that state (Gen 3:6-24) (Rom 5:12)

3. in consequence of which all mankind are now sinners by nature and choice, (Rom 5:19) (Jn 3:6) (Ps 51:5) (Isa 53:6) (Gen 6:12) (Rom 3:9-18)

4. and being by nature utterly void of that holiness required by the law of God, positively inclined to evil; and therefore under just condemnation to eternal ruin, (Eph 2:13) (Rom 1:18,31) (Rom 2:1-16)

5. without defense or excuse. (Ezek 18:19,20) (Rom 1:20) (Rom 3:19) .

II. EXPOSITION

A. Creation

1. Created by the Lord in His image (Gen 1:26,27,29) (Gen 2:7)
2. Placed in the garden of Eden (Gen 2:8)
3. Responsibility given (Gen 2:15)
4. Law laid down to man (Gen 2:16,17)
5. Woman created (Gen 2:18,21-24)
6. Living in Innoncence (Gen 2:25) (Ecc 7:29) (God hath made man upright)

B. Sin and Fall of Man

1. Crafty serpent’s deception (Gen 3:1-5)
2. Pleasure of sin (Gen 3:6)
3. Lust of flesh - Good for food (1 Jn 2:16)
4. Lust of eyes - Pleasant to the eyes
5. Pride of life To make one wise
6. Reproach of sin (Gen 3:7)
7. Hid themselves (Gen 3:8-13)
8. Cursed (death entered)
a. Serpent (Gen 3:14)
b. Woman (Gen 3:15,16)
c. Ground (Gen 3:17-19)
9. Exiled (Gen 3:20-24)

C. Sin Imputed (impute-To ascribe to)

1. Charged to all mankind (Rom 5:12) (We have Adams nature)
2. Personal sin (Rom 3:23) “all have sinned”
3. Rendered guilty (Rom 3:9-18)

D. Inclined to evil

1. Condemned to sins penalty (Rom 6:23) The wages of sin is death
2. Powerless to change God’s law (Ezekiel 18:4) “The soul that sinneth it shall die”
3. Ruined (Rom 1:18) The wrath of God is revealed from heaven against (Physical & spiritual death) all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men

E. No excuses

1. Corrupt nature at best (Ps 51:5) “Behold I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my
2. Positively totally depraved mother conceive me"
3. Rebellion of my flesh & nature (Is 1:2) (Romans 1:20)

III. INVITATION But, even in the total depravity of man- (Total Depravity of man means that man was created in the image of God; but man sinned and thereby incurred, not only physical death, but that spiritual death which is separation from God: consequently all human beings are born with a sinful and depraved nature.)

Note: under each of the 5 points are subheadings, beginning with C. P. R. We have a hope through and in Jesus. see (Rom 5:17-2)

He is our life-giver (Rom 6:23) the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord
